Sukoluhle Togwe  (Bailey) I am retired social worker. Founder member of Phumuza Share The Load.

Born in Matabeleland South. I came in the United Kingdom 1989. I never forgot the plight of women and children in my community at Insiza Rural District Council. When I visited my village after having been away for some time, when I was driving along the countryside, I saw some young people appear in the bush, I stopped to ask one of the girls why they were not at school. Her name was Eta. She said the teacher had sent her off because she did not have a pencil. That really broke my heart, and I was flabbergasted. I thought of the numerous pens and pencils that we throw away here in the UK. I was so touched by her story and when I returned to the UK, I was determined to do something to help the young women and the orphans in my community at Insiza.

This is why Phumuza Share The Load was formed in 2008. The charity supports and develops young people, orphans and vulnerable women through education. The charity has gone from strength to strength. Several of the young people have gone on to be successful and we are so very proud that some have returned to teach in the schools where Phumuza supported them gain an education and the self-confidence to achieve their goals.

DONATIONS!  The event was organized by Rotarian Cathy Ryan MBE. As a result, I was handed a cheque for Phumuza for 500GBP. The funds will go a long way in contributing to our cause.  Because of this generosity we will be able to assist more orphans and vulnerable Children.
